Each rum is aged in a charred oak barrel having previously been used to mature bourbon whiskey, and is also created to comply with kosher standards. Flor de Caña is renowned as one of the best rums from Latin America, having won more than 150 international awards since 2000 and has been the most award-winning rum brand during this period. Flor de Caña ( Spanish for " sugarcane flower") is a brand of premium rum manufactured and distributed by Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua which is headquartered in Managua, Nicaragua and dates back as far as 1890. It celebrates five generations of rum-making history at Flor de Caña, and would make a great addition to any luxury rum collection.In the nose initially you can smell alcohol, with a water spoon opens and the sweetness become, sugar cane of course, the alcohol still present but you can start feeling this balance between the alcohol and the sugar/woody notes, beautiful to drink straight up or in a elegant coctel. By 1890, he had found the site for Flor de Caña distillery in Chichigalpa at the base of the San Cristóbal volcano.
